21st April

Weather sunny and windy again! Difficult fishing conditions. Osprey appeared about 8.15am for quarter of an hour, left with a fish from one of the settlement ponds after attempting several dives. Little or no photos of ospreys as we only open on Monday. Looking forward to updating our gallery soon!

These rare sunny days in the Trossachs do not seem to suit our Ospreys, at the moment! Best times are late afternoon and early evening, just now.

Building the Bird Hide

We have been visited by Ospreys regularly between April and early September for the past ten years. We have visits from various ospreys up to 8 times every day. They hang around until they catch a fish, usually from our settlement ponds.

We were visiting friends in the south of England, and they told us of a photographic experience they had enjoyed in a similar situation. We decided that allowing photographers and wildlife enthusiasts to view and photograph Ospreys would be a good idea.

It has taken us about six months from the inception to the realisation of Project Osprey!

Below you can see photographs of the hide being built.
